I’ve recently acquired the Merkur 38C and I’m impressed with its overall build quality, but I’m curious to know more about the durability of its chrome plating. I’ve read that the Merkur 38C is made from chrome-plated brass with a die-cast zinc razor head and electroplated surfaces, which sounds impressive, but I want to know if the chrome plating is durable enough to withstand daily use and cleaning. I’m assuming the materials used are recyclable, but I’d like to know more about the alloy composition and the manufacturing process that goes into creating this razor. Is the chrome plating casted or manufactured using a specific process? I’ve heard that the Merkur 38C is a well-balanced and solidly built razor, but I’m concerned about the potential for corrosion over time. Given the complex engineering that goes into creating this razor, I’d like to know if the chrome plating is designed to provide longevity and resist corrosion. Can anyone with experience using the Merkur 38C provide some insight into the durability of its chrome plating?
Thank you so much for sharing your concerns about the Merkur 38C’s chrome plating, I completely understand!
In terms of durability, I’ve found chrome plating to be quite resistant to corrosion, especially when paired with regular cleaning and maintenance.
Thank you so much for reassuring me about the durability of the chrome plating, I feel much better now!
Clean and dry thoroughly, no issues.
I totally get why you’d be worried about corrosion, especially with daily use and cleaning.
I completely understand your concerns, and it’s great that you’re thinking ahead!
So sorry for any worry I may have caused, I’ve had my 38C for a year now and the chrome plating still looks brand new!
