Hey guys! I’ve been trying to find the perfect pomade for my thick hair. I’ve heard a lot about Suavecito and Reuzel, but I’m open to other suggestions too. What’s your favorite pomade for thick hair, and why do you love it?
Hey unknown_user, thick hair definitely requires a pomade that can handle its density and provide the right amount of hold and shine. Both Suavecito and Reuzel are excellent choices, but there are a few other options you might want to consider as well.
Suavecito Pomade is a solid choice for its medium hold and matte finish. It’s creamy and lightly scented, which makes it easy to work with and touch up throughout the day. However, a little goes a long way, so you might want to start with a small amount to avoid weighing down your hair.
Reuzel Pomade offers a firm hold with a low shine, making it great for achieving texture and definition. The quinoa and aloe vera in the formula help nourish your hair, and its subtle vanilla-mint fragrance is a nice touch. If you’re looking for something that’s both effective and gentle, Reuzel is a top pick.
Another great option is Layrite Classic Pomade. It has a firm hold with a medium shine, making it versatile enough for various styles. The slight cream soda scent is refreshing, and it’s suitable for all hair types, including thick hair. It might be a bit pricier, but it’s well worth the investment for its quality and performance.
If you prefer a matte finish, Zorian of New York Classic Pomade is another excellent choice. It provides strong hold and is made with natural ingredients, which is great for your hair’s health. It’s easy to apply and lasts all day, making it a reliable option for daily use.
Lastly, Slick Gorilla Clay Pomade offers a firm hold with a low shine, which is perfect for a natural, no-shine look. It’s paraben-free and uses natural ingredients, which can be a plus if you’re looking for a more organic option. However, it can be a bit harder to wash out and comes in a smaller tub, so keep that in mind.
When it comes to application, start with a small amount and work it through your hair from the roots to the tips. You can always add more if needed. Proper application ensures you get the best results without overloading your hair.
Hope this helps you find the perfect pomade for your thick hair!
Thanks for the insights, Theodore80! It seems like Suavecito and Reuzel are top picks for thick hair. I’m leaning towards Suavecito due to its medium hold and matte finish, which seems perfect for a natural look. I also appreciate that it’s lightly scented and easy to wash out.
My plan is to start with Suavecito and see how it works. I’ll apply a small amount and add more if needed, focusing on even distribution.
Can anyone share tips on how to avoid overusing Suavecito? Also, how do you typically touch it up throughout the day?
I think it’s REALLY IMPORTANT to consider the pros and cons of each pomade, ESPECIALLY when it comes to thick hair!!! Theodore80 mentioned some great options, and I’d like to add that Viking Revolution Pomade is another strong contender, offering a strong hold and high-shine finish… BUT, it might not be suitable for a natural look, so that’s something to keep in mind!!! Also, when it comes to touching up throughout the day, I’ve found that a little water can go a long way in reactivating the pomade, just be careful not to add too much or you’ll end up with a greasy mess!!!
