While all pre-shaving oils tend to be on the pricier side, the Proraso oil has a great excuse for its price tag. The first thing that needs to be considered when you look at a pre-shave product, is whether or not it will have any ingredients that clog your pores. Check out the ingredients list for Proraso:
- Stearic Acids
- Kernel Extract
- Camellia sinensis Leaf Extract
- Thyme Flower/Leaf Extract
- Tocopheryl Acetate
- Potassium Hydroxide
- Cetearyl Alcohol
- Sodium Benzoate
- Benzyl Alcohol
- Disodium EDTA
- Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl hydroxyhydrocinnamate
- Hexyl Cinnamal
Now, while this is a whole lot of large words with unfamiliar chemical reactions, this product does not have any Isopropyl Mysristate, which after repeated use can clog the pores. Within this product, we actually find ingredients such as oats and green tea (Camellia sinensis Leaf extract). Both of these elements are extremely beneficial to the skin. Oats are an exfoliate and natural moisturizer, while green tea has a lot of antioxidants to help fight of the effects of aging.
The only down side to this product is that it uses a lot more chemical elements as opposed to natural essential oils. We would suggest that you look for something like the Pacific Shaving Company Shaving Oil if you are more keen to using products with lots of essential oils. However, on the plus side, when using this product, you will not end up with a clogged razor; and your skin will be smooth and moisturized. Acting as an invisible shield for your skin, when this pre-shave cream is paired with your favorite shaving soap, you will get a close shave free of any skin irritation.
