How to Remove Mustache Wax

If you style your beard and mustache regularly, you’ll be familiar with mustache wax. Mustache wax is a great product to keep your mustache orderly and looking stylish all day.

But at the end of the day, it needs to be thoroughly washed out, just like any styling product. Here’s how to fully clean and remove mustache wax from your facial hair.

Step 1: Wet Mustache

The first stage in removing mustache wax from your facial hair is to wet your mustache with warm water. This can be done over a sink when washing your face or in the shower.

Step 2: Apply A Natural Beard Wash

You then need to apply a natural beard wash to your facial hair. You can apply this to your beard, too, even if you’ve not used the mustache wax on it! A good beard wash will gently remove the natural oils and beeswax found in mustache wax without damaging your hair or skin.

Step 3: Gently Scrub Till a Soap Lather

Scrub your beard gently until a nice sudsy lather forms. Don’t scrub too harshly, as you may pull at the hair follicles. You should notice that your mustache begins to stop feeling sticky, tacky, and clumped together, and the hairs will start to free themselves from the wax’s hold.

Step 4: Rinse & Pat Dry

When you get out of the shower, or you’ve finished washing your mustache, pat your facial hair dry with a hand towel, and then you can either air dry your mustache and beard or dry them with your blowdryer on a low heat setting to reduce any heat damage

Step 5 (Optional): Condition

Once dry, you might want to condition your beard. This stage is optional when removing mustache wax, but it can benefit your beard and skin. Apply conditioner in the form of beard oil or beard balm to help keep the skin beneath your facial hair nourished. It can also help replace the moisture stripped away by regular washing and other habits.

Consider Buying A Mustache Wax Remover

If you are using mustache wax regularly, or you just want an easier way of getting all of your mustache wax out, you should consider buying a mustache wax remover.

Wax removers, like the Death Grip Night Fury Mustache Wax Remover, soften and remove mustache wax from your facial hair. This particular wax remover is paraben-free, all-natural, and cruelty-free. The oil is also citrus-scented, providing a refreshing, clean scent to your mustache after using it.

Is it harmful to leave mustache wax in your beard?

You should always wash out the mustache wax from your beard before heading to bed. While it shouldn’t be harmful to leave it in terms of irritation or pain, it can lead to oil buildup. This may cause acne and a greasy appearance, which can be unsightly. Leaving mustache wax in your beard can also cause it to flake and look like dandruff.
