Bulldog Skincare for Men Review

Bulldog is the first skincare brand that many men often use.  Their products rely on a gentle formula, are modestly priced, and can be found at various online retailers and likely your local drugstore.

Today, we will take a detailed look at a few of their most popular products, including their face wash, face scrub, and moisturizer.  These products were a part of their full face kit – available here.

Bulldog Skincare Overview

Below is a product overview of the face wash, face scrub, and moisturizer:

Face Wash

Here’s a look at the front and back of the Bulldog Face Wash:

Within the face wash, you will see that Bulldog relies on a blend of some tried and tested skincare ingredients which include the following: glycerin, camelina sativa seed oil, aloe vera leaf juice, green tea leaf extract, and tocopherol (vitamin E).

Appearance and Viscosity

The face wash is relatively thick, similar to a shampoo:

Face Scrub

Now, let’s switch gears and take a look at the Bulldog Face Scrub.

First, a view of the front and back of the packaging:

Now, the face scrub has many of the same core ingredients found in the face wash.  However, to give this face scrub some grit, Bulldog relies on sweet almond shell powder, oat kernel meal, and olive seed powder.  Additionally, Bulldog also includes shea butter to counteract the scrub from drying out your skin.

Appearance and Viscosity

As seen in the image below, the face scrub is neutral in color and has a coarse texture. Additionally, the face scrub is the thickest of the three products reviewed:

Moisturizer

Lastly, here’s a look at the moisturizer.

Like the face wash and scrub, the moisturizer from their original line contains the same set of core ingredients.  Additional standout ingredients include amorphophallus konjac root extract which may help with acne (source) and ethylhexyl palmitate which is an emollient.  Emollients help the moisturizer soothe and hydrate the skin.

One important note is that the moisturizer is the only product we reviewed that is travel-friendly.  All other products would require you to store them in your checked luggage if traveling via air.

Appearance and Viscosity

The Bulldog moisturizer is white and has a smooth texture. The lotion is neither too thin nor thick:

Summary

All Bulldog products reviewed today were made in the United Kingdom.  Additionally, each of the products is cruelty-free and relies on eco-friendly packaging.

Lastly, Bulldog was acquired by Edgewell Personal Care in 2016.  Edgewell Personal Care owns several grooming brands, including Jack Black, Schick, and Wilkinson Sword (source).

Review Summary

Overall, each of the products tested did a fine job in their respective roles.  Here’s what went well and what was a bit of a miss:

What We Liked

  • Given the price, these products do a great job of making your skin look nice and feel healthy.  The set we reviewed was only $20 and provides the basics for face care.
  • The formula across all three products is mild.  While Bulldog does make select products for sensitive skin, all three were pretty gentle nevertheless.
  • The scent wasn’t powerful or too off-putting in any way.  Expect a subtle clean, fresh scent.
  • The moisturizer, in particular, wasn’t too streaky nor challenging to work into the skin.  It absorbs quickly and easily.
  • After using the face scrub, the face felt pretty fresh and smooth.  Any oily residue was noticeably absent, particularly on the nose area.

What We Didn’t Like

  • Consider the Protective Moisturizer by Bulldog if you are looking for SPF protection.  Otherwise, you will need to layer up your favorite sunscreen after application if using the moisturizer.
  • Many Bulldog products are not travel-friendly.  If you travel via air frequently, you will need to put all of these into your checked luggage or transfer them to a TSA-compliant container.

Closing Thoughts

Bulldog Skincare for Men is a terrific introduction to proper men’s skincare.  Not only are their products inexpensive, but they don’t fill it up with a bunch of junky ingredients.  Each of the skincare products we reviewed today contained premium ingredients often found in high-end designer brands.

Ultimately, the Bulldog line is high-performing and well-made – what more could you ask for?
